Traffic Case Records in Cedar County
Every traffic and city-ordinalance case filed in Cedar County is heard in Cedar County Court. Clerk Magistrate Diane Sudbeck keeps the record at 101 S Broadway in Hartington. The office answers at 402-254-7441. There is no separate Cedar County municipal or justice-court traffic docket. A city or village may have issued the ticket. The court file, waiver path, setting, and register all live with Cedar County Court.
What can a Cedar County traffic record show? The citation or charge, the case number, a plea or waiver, hearing settings, judgment, costs, payment activity, and register entries. Its job is to locate and explain the Cedar County court case itself. Confirm your next court action through the citation. The Cedar County Court record comes next. A city website or an enforcement record does not count. Nebraska's official traffic-cases information covers the Cedar County Court role, waiver rules, appearance route, and related court process in plain terms.
The state page backs up the local rule: Cedar County traffic court records stay with Cedar County Court. No separate city court portal exists for them.
Cedar County Traffic Cases Stay Here
Cedar County Court also handles the county's misdemeanors, city-ordinalance violations, and felony preliminary hearings. For a traffic docket search in JUSTICE, pick Cedar County. Then pick Cedar County Court. Hartington, Laurel, Randolph, Coleridge, and Wynot have no court selector of their own. The municipalities offer no separate traffic calendar, payment portal, citation-lookup tool, or court docket. The county court is the single stop.

Call the clerk about a Cedar County traffic date or plea when the citation has not yet appeared in the public system. The same goes for a confusing calendar result. Call too if the notice directs you to appear.
Cedar County Traffic Ticket Lookups
The Cedar County lookup chain works in a set order. Start with the citation or notice. Then use JUSTICE Case Search, then the Multi-Court Case Calendar. Turn to ePayments only when a qualifying waiver or payment is allowed. No separate official Cedar County citation-number search form exists. Type the exact citation or case number from the paper when you have it. Without it, search the party name. Select Cedar County and Cedar County Court, and choose the Traffic type when known.
- Read the citation for its court, appearance date, waiver information, and exact citation or case number.
- Search JUSTICE by the exact number or party name and select Cedar County, Cedar County Court, and Traffic where appropriate.
- Open the matching case and inspect the case summary, register, schedule, costs, and current status fields.
- Search the Multi-Court Case Calendar by Cedar County Court and date or last name to check a current or future setting.
- Call or visit the Cedar County Court counter if no result appears, the date differs, or the citation requires an appearance.
JUSTICE's current one-time terms charge $17 for three days of access to up to 30 records. The courthouse kiosk is the free alternative during working hours. A clerk can also point you to a copy request for any public document behind the Cedar traffic docket.
Cedar County Traffic ePayments Limits
Nebraska ePayments opens a payment workflow. It is not a public docket. Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and eCheck are accepted. The official information lists a minimum additional $1.25 charge per case or ticket, and the system applies each payment to the account immediately before court disbursement. It does not display the full public register of actions.
Pay only after the citation confirms that a waiver or payment is permitted. A case payment calls for the right case information. And a payment screen cannot confirm a hearing date, the court's final disposition, or whether a separate appearance-required charge is still pending.
The payment interface is just one piece of the Cedar traffic process. For docket and setting information, rely on JUSTICE and the calendar.
Traffic Court Dates in Cedar County
The printed citation controls your appearance or payment date. The local District 6 rule sets a timing promise. A traffic-infraction defendant gets a scheduled hearing within 30 days of the citation date. That is a scheduling window, though, not a universal payment deadline. A later notice, register entry, or calendar result can change things. Treat an earlier displayed date as history. Confirm the current setting.
| Citation or case number | Use the exact citation or case number printed on the ticket; Cedar has no published local number format. |
|---|---|
| Court | Cedar County Court is the traffic-court record custodian. |
| Date and time | Compare the citation with the JUSTICE schedule, calendar, and any later notice. |
| Location | The public calendar can display location with case number, caption, date, and time. |
| Status | Read the register for waiver, setting, disposition, costs, payment, or later court event. |
The Multi-Court Case Calendar is a good check on a current date. Its data can lag, and a blank result does not prove a Cedar court setting is absent.
Cedar County Traffic Ticket Dates
Three dates can mean three different things in a Cedar traffic case. The citation gives the first required response date. The calendar shows current or future public settings. The register logs when each notice, continuance, reset, waiver, hearing, order, or disposition was entered. An old setting sitting in the history? Scan for a later continued, reset, notice-of-setting, or order entry before assuming anything.
When the printed date and the electronic result disagree, never lean on a blank screen. Call County Court promptly at 402-254-7441. Cedar County has no posted remote-hearing practice or reset code. Rely on the court notice and clerk confirmation instead.
Paying a Ticket vs Fighting It
Check the citation first. Paying by waiver works only if the box on the ticket allows it. The charge must also qualify. A waiver means a guilty plea, giving up rights and appearance, then paying the fine and costs. You can fight instead by showing up in court. Some matters require an appearance, such as a suspended license, DUI, or uninsured driving. Paying on a nonwaiverable citation never replaces that required appearance.
| Waive and pay, if allowed | Appear and contest |
|---|---|
| Guilty plea, rights waiver, and appearance waiver are part of the accepted route. | Appear at the court, date, and time shown on the citation or later notice. |
| Use ePayments or a signed paper waiver when the citation permits it. | Use the court process when waiver is not allowed or an appearance-required charge exists. |
| Online payment can add the stated convenience charge. | County Court handles date and plea questions. |
Do not miss the required response: The official waiver form warns that a missed payment before the appearance date, or a failure to appear, can trigger an arrest warrant or driver's-license action by your home state. Cedar County Court sets its own clearance fees and procedures for a failure to appear, so call the court rather than assuming a late payment fixes it.
Cedar County Traffic Waiver Options
Start with the waiver box on the citation. If it is marked and the charge qualifies, mail a signed and dated copy of the citation or the official Waiver and Plea of Guilty form. For the paper route, the form accepts cash, certified check, or money order. Want a receipt? Enclose a stamped envelope. Whatever the form says, the printed date on the citation controls. The official waiver-and-plea form spells out the statewide conditions and warnings.
The form opens the waiver route. Your own Cedar citation decides whether that route exists for each charge listed.
Two Records: Court File and Driver File
A Cedar traffic case leaves two trails. One is the court file, kept by Cedar County Court and its clerk. It holds the citation, case number, plea, waiver, and hearing settings. The full record of judgment, costs, payments, and register entries sits there too. The other is a driver file at the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. That agency runs it under its own process. The driver file will not show the court's complete register.
| Record | Court file | Driver file |
|---|---|---|
| Custodian | Cedar County Court clerk. | Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. |
| Core content | Citation, court events, plea, disposition, judgment, costs, payment, and register. | Licensing and conviction-report information maintained by the DMV. |
| Access route | JUSTICE, County Court, courthouse kiosk, or CC 3:29 request. | DMV's separate request process. |
For the Cedar docket, your court date, and everything actually filed, the court record is the source. The Cedar court publishes no schedule for when a disposition reaches the DMV.
Cedar County Traffic STOP Questions
Some minor traffic citations qualify for the Safety Training Option Program, known as S.T.O.P. Complete it successfully and there is no fine and no appearance, per the official traffic information. Law enforcement or the prosecuting attorney decides eligibility, not the Cedar County clerk. The official material lists no local Cedar eligibility rules or program fee. Do not let a program assumption override the instructions on the citation. Keep the notice. Confirm whether waiver is allowed. Contact the named authority or County Court with Cedar case questions. Even after an authorized process, check the docket. Confirm where the case stands in court.
Traffic Record Copy Fees
Need a copy of a Cedar traffic case record? Request one from County Court or through its copy-request process. The published charges are $.25 per page plus $1 per seal for certification. Your actual fine or docket cost depends on the citation, the statute, and the waiver amount. The court cost category matters too. Confirm that figure with the court instead of estimating from a general schedule.
| Item | Published amount | Cedar traffic note |
|---|---|---|
| Paper copy | $.25 per page | County Court copy charge. |
| Certification or seal | $1 per seal | Request certification from the clerk when needed. |
| ePayments charge | At least $1.25 per case or ticket | Additional online payment charge; payment eligibility still depends on the citation. |
| Fine or traffic docket cost | Varies | Verify the citation, current schedule, and County Court. |
Nebraska's July 2026 waiver and fine schedule is the official statewide schedule source.
No schedule can replace the amount and court instructions printed on your own Cedar County traffic case.
Cedar County Traffic Filing Context
The FY2025 County Court report lists 366 Cedar traffic filings. That was the highest adult filing category reported for the county. The number is a filing total only, not pending cases, outcomes, citations issued, or convictions. It just shows local court workload. For any one traffic case, rely on the citation, the docket, and the calendar result. Confirmation from the clerk counts as well.
Note: The filing total cannot tell you whether a particular Cedar traffic case was waived, heard, dismissed, paid, or resolved some other way.
